The National Monument known as Tugu Negara by Malaysians was built in memory to honor the War heroes of World War I and II during the Malaysian Emergency (Communist Emergency) between 1948 and 1960.

The National Monument is situated near the Lake Gardens of Kuala Lumpur, the Asean Garden, Parliament Building and the National Mosque and is also close to other nearby attractions.

The monument is 15.4 meters tall and comprise seven bronze statues that represent the seven men from the Malaysian Armed Forces holding the national flag and denoting the seven qualities of leadership, unity, strength, vigilance, suffering, courage and sacrifice.

This historic sculpture has also marked its place in the book of records for being the tallest freestanding group of bronze sculptures.

The National Monument can be visited daily from 8am to 10pm.
