The training will be over 3 days and will cover 11 modules ranging from topics such as the basic management of OSH SMEs to practical exercise on Hazard Identification, Risk Assessment and Risk Control (HIRARC).

- Position in company that required by law (OSHA 1994)
- Company that employed 5 or more employee must appoint OSH-C
- Company that not required to appoint SHO must appoint OSH-C

Under section 29A of the OSH (Amendment) Act 2022, all workplace with more than 5 employees and not employing a Safety and Health Officer shall appoint an OSH Coordinator!
Failure to appoint an OSH Coordinator will expose companies to penalty of RM 50,000 or 6 months jail or both!
Many companies, especially small medium industries (SME) have issues related to Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) as mass medias have continuously reported various accidents at the workplace which results in deaths.
With the increased number of accidents at workplace, Malaysia are facing greater challenges to monitor OSH requirements, workers safety and health issues. In the SME strategic plan 2020, Department of Occupational Safety and Health (DOSH) target is to increase the number of OSH practitioners in Malaysia. There, DOSH take initiative to manifest competent OSH-Coordinator, a representative of safety practitioners in the industries to monitor OSH requirements. Each employer required to appoint at least one OSH-Coordinator to manage Occupational Safety and Health requirements, assist employer by reporting OSH statistic and performance to DOSH, promote safety culture at workplace and take reasonable action pertaining to OSH compliance.
根据最新的 OSHA 法规,第29A(1)条规定,如果雇主在工作场所雇用5名以上员工,应任命职业安全协调员(OSH-C)。第29A(4)条规定,不遵守第29A(1)条的规定,将会被罚款最高 RM 50,000
Responsibility of an OSH Coordinator
OSH Coordinator main role is "to coordinate the health and safety at the workplace by identifying hazards, assessing risks and taking reasonable actions to OSH Compliance."
DOSH documents state that this responsibility includes:
- To provide advice to management
- The OSH Coordinator will advise the employer on the steps required to be taken for the occupational safety and health of the workers.
- To inspect the workplace
- The OSH Coordinator assists the employer to inspect the workplace for any hazards
- To report incidents to the authorities
- The OSH Coordinator will help the employer report any occupational accidents and diseases to DOSH officers through documents JKKP 6, JKKP 7 and JKKP 8.
- To conduct risk management
- The OSH Coordinator helps the employer conduct risk management practices at the workplaces
- To perform ad hoc duties
- The OSH Coordinator will conduct ad hoc duties related to occupational safety and health at the request of the employee.
