吉胆岛是旅游区，有很多游客到当地旅行。

吉胆岛有多家海鲜餐馆，名宿，警察局，消防局，马来亚银行，茶餐室，寺庙，清真寺，小学和中学。

五条港 Bagan Sg Lima

地点：吉胆岛附近的五条港

从巴生港口乘快艇去五条港码头。

上岸后往前直走，来到分叉路口，正中位置就是五条港的中区，右方是北区，左方是南区，前方是华小。

据说早期的吉胆岛共有5个河流村落，由南部的吉胆岛渔村为一条港，顺着北方是二条港，三条港与四条港（死人住的地方），最北端的就是五条港。一条港（吉胆岛）与五条港虽然在同个岛上，不过陆路互不相通，只能从过海路来往两地。

五条港是吉胆岛上的小渔村，没有美丽的沙滩，反而屋子直接建立在沼泽地的高脚洋灰柱子上。

涨潮之际可以看到低下全是海水，退潮之际亦可以看见沼泽泥地。

退潮时还可以在码头附近看到不同颜色（如黄色，蓝色，红色）的小螃蟹。

岛上的渔村没有马路供汽车行走。

当地居民除了徒步，就是依靠脚车代步。

渔村内没有海鲜餐馆，就只有供居民喝茶聊天的茶室。

渔村内也没有诊所，不过有医护人员会每个月定期乘船来五条港问诊。

五条港有间华小。不过当地人读中学，需要乘船去吉胆岛上学。

这里的游客不多，并没有旅游区的商业气息。

五条港的外号是虾米之乡，因为岛民都以捕鱼虾和批发海产为生。到处探索时发现，这里的居民都在自家门口空地上晒虾米。

这里的作业方式非常特别，渔民将捕获的虾在船上加盐煮熟，然后运回来后，暴晒虾米几天。

Tugu Peringatan Negara Malaysia 国家纪念碑 National Monument

TUGU NEGARA

Pembinaan Tugu Negara telah diilhamkan oleh Y.T.M. Tunku Abdul Rahman Putra Alhaj, Perdana Menteri Malaysia pada tahun 1963 sebagai memperingati semua pahlawan yang gugur dalam peperangan mempertahankan kedaulatan negara termasuk mereka yang terdahulu. Kawasan yang dikhaskan untuk Tugu Negara meliputi tanah seluas kira-kira 48,562 meter persegi menghala ke Taman Tasik. Kompleks tugu ini mengandungi lima komponen utama iaitu Tugu Negara, kolam air pancut, astaka, tugu peringatan dan taman tambahan.

Tugu ini dibina dengan tujuh patung gangsa yang melambangkan kemenangan pasukan tentera menghadapi musuh. Reka bentuk tugu ini telah diilhamkan oleh seorang pengukir berbangsa Amerika, Felix De Weldon dan siap dibina pada awal tahun 1966. Upacara perasmiannya telah diadakan pada 8 Februari tahun yang sama. Mulai dari itu, upacara tahunan untuk memperingati pejuang yang gugur telah diadakan di sini.

Sebelum ini sebuah tugu telah didirikan berhampiran dengan stesen kereta api selepas Perang Dunia Pertama berakhir, untuk memperingati para pejuang yang gugur semasa peperangan tersebut. Perbarisan ringkas diadakan di sisi tugu peringatan ini pada setiap 11 November. Setelah tamat Perang Dunia Kedua, nama-nama pejuang yang terkorban telah ditambah pada tugu peringatan tersebut sehingga digantikan dengan Tugu Negara yang ada sekarang.

国家纪念碑

建造国家纪念碑是马来西亚首相，东姑阿都拉曼.普特拉在1963年提出的，目的是为了纪念那些为了保卫国家主权而阵亡的战士。

一片面向湖滨公园，占地4万8千5百62方公尺的地方因而被保留下来建这座纪念碑。它的范围内共有5个主要的部分，也就是纪念碑，喷泉，凉亭，战争纪念馆以及周围的花园。

这个由美国雕塑家，费利克斯.韦尔登在1966年设计的纪念碑是由七个青铜雕像所组成，象征着战胜了邪恶的民主主义队伍。纪念碑更是在同年2月8日谢幕，而在这之后，纪念阵亡战士的典礼每年都在这儿举行。

在纪念碑还未建成之前，有另一座为了纪念第一次世界大战阵亡战士的纪念碑被竖立在火车站的附近。每年的11月11日，这里都会举行一项简单的仪式以对他们的牺牲表示敬意。后来，第二次世界大战阵亡战士的名字更被加刻在这纪念碑上，一直到它被现有的国家纪念碑取代为止。

NATIONAL MONUMENT

The idea for the construction of the National Monument was mooted by the then Prime Minister of Malaysia, YTM Tunku Abdul Rahman Putra Alhaj in 1963 to commemorate the warriors who died defending the sovereignty of the country. An area measuring 48,562 square metres facing the Lake Gardens was set aside for its construction. The monument complex encompasses five main components, the National Monument, fountains, pavilion, a war memorial and the surrounding gardens.

The monument embodying seven bronze statues also represents triumph of the forces of democracy over the forces of evil. The monument was designed by an American sculptor, Felix De Weldon and was completed in early 1966. I was unveiled on 8th February of the same year and from then on a ceremony to commemorate the passing of the warriors is held here annually.

Prior to its construction, another monument was erected near the Railway Station after World War I to commemorate the warriors who died during the war. A simple ceremony to honour their passing and sacrifices is held on 11th November every year. The names of warriors who died during World War II were added on to the monument until it was replaced by the present National Monument.
