The government will be introducing the Employment Insurance Scheme for all Malaysian employees with effect 1st January 2018. Under this scheme, employees will be entitled to temporary financial assistance for any loss of employment that is approved by the EIS Board.
To this effect, all employers are required to contribute 0.2% of an employee's wages on a monthly basis to the EIS. Similarly, employees are also required to contribute the equal portion by ways of a monthly deduction from their wages. The above mentioned deduction shall be made from January 2018 onwards.
